LA FOP Legal Defense Plan
As a member of the Louisiana State Lodge, you are eligible
to receive protection if you are sued in the course of performing your job as a
law enforcement officer. The following is a detailed description of the plan.

of Police-Legal Plan, Inc.

Legal Plan Pays
If the participant uses a Plan attorney, reasonable and
necessary legal fees for coverage A, B, and C are fully paid.* When a Plan
attorney is used, there is no deductible. Reimbursable cost are paid by the plan
up to the maximum stated in the Plan description.
If the Participant uses a non-Plan attorney, a $250
deductible applies. After this is met, the plan pays legal fees up to the amount
shown below:
Coverage 'A' Administrative
Any administrative action or proceeding
involving:
- Salary, dismissal, change of assignment, demotion,
promotion, leave of absence, resignation or other professional rights, duties or
responsibilities and arising within the scope of the participant's
employment.
- The issuance, suspension, cancellation or revocation of any
credential, certification or license issued by federal, state, or local
authorities, which credential is required for law enforcement personnel.
- Administrative sanctions against a Participant by any law
enforcement authority related to or arising from a Participant's employment as a
peace officer.
Plan Attorney: All reasonable and necessary legal
fees. Non-Plan Attorney:
Initial consultation, preparation, and hearing -- $9,500.
Coverage 'B' Civil
- Any Civil action or proceeding against a Participant
arising out of the activities of that Participant in the course and scope of
employment as a peace officer.
Plan Attorney: All reasonable and necessary legal
fees. Non-Plan Attorney:
Pleading and preparation -- $9,500; trial -- $9,500 @ $700 a day.
Coverage 'C' Criminal
- Any Criminal action or proceeding against a Participant
arising out of activities of that Participant in the course and scope of
employment as a peace officer.
Plan Attorney: All reasonable and necessary legal
fees. Non-Plan Attorney:
Pleading and preparation -- $9,500; trail -- $9,500 @ $700 per day; advice and
consultation for grand jury hearing -- $2,500.
Reimbursable costs are limited to $1,000. * A Plan attorney
means an attorney with whom the plan has contracted to provide legal services,
as listed by the Plan.
The Louisiana State Lodge has established a group rate for
the enrollment of Louisiana members. The cost of enrollment for all coverage --
A, B, and C -- is $197 a year. The Louisiana State Lodge has also established a
fund to defer a portion of the cost of this program. If you are an At-Will
employee Coverage A does not apply and
your rate is $158 a year.

Employees
Members of the Louisiana State Lodge who
are at-will employees can now purchase
Coverage B & C for only $48.00 per year.
This plan includes both covered Civil
and Criminal representation.
